At the AGM on Thurs 21st May there was some big changes to the committee. Not least the significant departure of Stevie Wright who has lead the club as President over the last year but has also been at the forefront of the committee for a number of years and has been the main lead on the Building UP project. A huge thanks to Stevie as he departs the main committee and moves over to the Pavilion SCIO to help navigate its continued set up.
Its with great delight that we elected Byram Tavadia as the new Club President. Byram commented "It’s a great privilege to be appointed President of the club that I have had association with for over 35 years.
Thanks to our committee, leadership teams, past presidents, and generous loyal members the foundations of the club are stronger than ever. We have built a “model club” with healthy, Mini, Youth, Ladies and Men's sections; and with the opening of the new clubhouse we now have the facilities to grow further.
The powerful culture and ethos of CRFC is more evident than ever! I look forward to a successful season ahead and wish all players and coaches the very best of luck."
Byram's new role was accompanied by the good news that Tori McMaster and Ross Taylor will step into the roles of Vice President of Rugby for Women and Men respectively.
Some of you will remember Tori as a past RHC president who brings a wealth of knowledge about the ins and outs of how a committee works and has good experience of dealing with the SRU. We look forward to Tori working with newly appointed Women's head coach Gavin Emerson as we continue to push the boundaries forward in the women's game.
Ross will be a well kent face as a former player and his role on the Men's coaching team over the last few years. Ross will again support Men's head coach, Gavin Blackburn, following the title winning season last year.
As Donald Miller steps away from the Men's captaincy we also welcome Lochlan Morris onto the committee as the Men's Club Captain. Zoe Turner remains Women's Club Captain while Emma Wood has been ratified as a Women's Rep on the committee.
Its brilliant that we have so many people wanting to step forward and help the club as this transformational year sets in. We would welcome anyone else who wants to stick their hand up to support the work that the club is doing as we push towards the new season.
The AGM minutes will be published in due course.
