A local derby for the last game before the break was the challenge for the seconds on Saturday. The coaches selected an experimental pack with Toe Jam at second row and Robbie moving from the wing to wing forward, neither player let the coaches down turning in sterling performances.

As expected Forries turned up with a large pack and in the first scrum shunted the Cougars back but to our packs credit they stuck to their task and eventually wore the visitors down and our pack took control. Neither side dominated the lineout with both sides competing for every ball.

As in many games this season once our backs get ball they will do the damage and after only 4 minutes Paul went on a run and scored leaving the visitors backs in his wake.

Forrester counter rucking was impressive and they managed to spoil a lot of our ruck ball driving through from behind the ball.

After 14 minutes Wisey blasted through the defence from a solid scrum on the 5m to score, Sparky once again adding the extras.

The referee was excellent and allowed the game to flow as much as he could and on the half hour Shaka seemed to beat all 15 Forrester players on his way to the line (if he could have beat their subs as well he would have!).

Just before half time some slack tackling let Forries in for their first score. In the process Shaun suffered a nasty knee injury (his own fault for collapsing the maul) and was duly replaced by Wardy.

Due to a severe life threatening attack of Man-Flu, Westy was substituted after struggling through the first half with the youth policy in action - Ulkie took the field. Stevie Crichton was also committed to the fray for Paul Strachan.

On 43 minutes Donald scored a great try in his last game for the club this year, good luck on your travels Donald, the boys will make sure your girlfriend wants for nothing!!

The match tightened up for the next 20 minutes with neither side being able to cross the white wash but on 61 minutes Shaka once again tormented the Forries defence and scored his second.

Only 5 minutes later Donald stretched the lead with his second try of the day completely outstripping the Forrester winger and full back! A great way to sign off his season. However, Forries refused to capitulate and scored their second try only one minute later.

Stevie Campbell came close to adding to the points after some neat play down the right wing but was denied the opportunity to add to his impressive tally of tries this year. He too departs as he returns to work. All the best back at sea and we'll look forward to your return at the end of the season.

The game was wrapped up with Euan Millar and Sparky scoring on 73 and 75 minutes.

A great win against our neighbours but the high standards set in our previous two games were not quite met.
We go into the break top of the league but still have some big challenges in the second half.
